Support Us Our Scout Group is made up entirely of unpaid volunteers – the Leaders, Group Executive, and our friends. They plan & run activities for our young people, our group events, and maintain & manage our hall & grounds – which is used most days by community groups, activity groups and parties. We pay a cleaner and the odd gas / electric / alarm engineer – that’s about it. We raise funds through letting our hall and grounds, through our fundraising events, and through donations and grants. It costs around £8,000 / year to run our hall in insurance, maintenance, cleaning and eletricity & gas – not counting larger repairs. We also must fund major work to upgrade & renew our buildings – built in 1953 and earlier. We’ve recently invested over £200k in Phase 1 of our work – a new toilet, shower & washing extension, accessibility improvements to our front entrance, and upgrades to our drainage, heating, lighting, electricity supply, internet access and decoration. Phases 2&3 will replace our hall roof, and add a storage extension for hall users.
